A UNIQUE SPACE
The Madriu-Perafita-Claror valley was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2004 due to its landscape value. The preservation of a major valley in its entirety is an unusual fact, and the only case that has occurred in the Pyrenees.
It is located in the south-east of Andorra and occupies an area of 4,247 ha . This territory coincides with the hydrographic basin of the Madriu River, represents nearly 10% of Andorra’s surface , and is divided between land in the parishes of Encamp, Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria and Escaldes-Engordany.
